Convo with Sharmistha Ben, Founding Trustee NMSWDF from Dahod, Gujarat
Dear Listeners & Learners, In this segment of "Sustainable Change at the bottom of Pyramid" we bring to you some very powerful stories of simple and hardworking people at the bottom of the pyramid. Sharing the tenth video of the series in association with "CInI- Collective for Integrated Livelihoods Initiative" who have been successfully running the "Lakhpati Kisan" program within tribal communities of India. Today, we are talking to Sharmistha ben from Dahod district in Gujarat. Sharmistha ben is a founding trustee of NM Sadguru Foundation and has 44 years of experience working with the tribals of the region. Her work has helped around 3.53 lakh tribal families who have been connected to CInI and Sadguru Foundation. The farmers in this region had land but the facilities like proper seeds, fertilisers, irrigation and training were provided by the CInI and Sadguru Foundation which helped the farmers to increase their income. She also brings to light the fact that the Foundation was responsible for creating awareness about me and women working together for the better future of the family. Consequently, women were able to attend the trainings and come out of their houses and work at par with the men. You can see their confidence in many of the videos in this segment posted previously.
