In this segment of "Sustainable Change at the bottom of Pyramid" we bring to you some very powerful stories of simple and hardworking people at the bottom of the pyramid. Sharing the fifth video of the series in association with "CInI- Collective for Integrated Livelihoods Initiative" who have been successfully running the "Lakhpati Kisan" program within tribal communities of India. Today, we are talking to Bharti ben and Nanda ben from Dhabda Village, Dahod district in Gujarat. Bharti ben is the co-ordinator for 7 villages where 1350 women have enrolled in the "Lakhpati Kisan" program and most of them are already earning more than INR 100,000 annually. The training and support from Sadguru foundation in the form of subsidised seeds and material for farming have greatly led to the overall development of the women in these villages. Nanda ben says that while earlier she had to cover her head and was not allowed to openly speak in front of the men, is now empowered and can speak freely. She now earns and manages her own money and house hold which has helped her to educate her children. Bharti ben and Nanda ben proudly say that the women in their villages are at par or sometimes doing even better than men. Watch this video to know their story.
